Greenhouse gas emissions produced by the top oil and gas producers in the United States come from a variety of sources and activities. Texas-based ConocoPhillips produced roughly five million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (MtCO₂e) in 2021, of which 46 percent were produced by process and equipment venting and flaring.
