In 2022, there were a total of 7,611 wildfires in Mexico. Out of this figure, 4,447 fires – or 58 percent – lasted only one day. Meanwhile, 1,965 of Mexico's forest fires had a length of two to three days, whereas an additional 809 fires lasted between four and seven days. Only 390 of Mexico's wildfires in 2023 had a duration of over seven days. The most common type of forest fires in the Latin American country are surface fires.
