The most expensive phases of building a single-family home in the United States during 2022 were framing and interior finishing. Meanwhile, major system rough-ins such as plumbing, electrical lines, and HVAC were the third phase with the highest construction costs. The weight of interior finishes within the overall construction costs has declined every year since 2015. The total cost of building a house in the U.S. increased significantly in the past years.
