In 2023, there were a total of 7,611 wildfires in Mexico. Most of these took place in the western state of Jalisco, with more than 1,400 wildfires. This was followed by the State of Mexico, where the number of forest fires amounted to 927 that year. The Latin American country saw a total surface of 1,047,492 hectares affected by wildfires in 2023.
