On May 19, 2023, the artificial intelligence and machine learning laboratory OpenAI launched its popular ChatGPT mobile app on iOS for the United States market. Announced on May 18, 2023, the app generated close to four million downloads during its first month on the Apple App Store in the United States and around 12 million downloads as OpenAI made the app available to other markets in June 2023. The app launched at the end of July 2023 on Android, bringing the downloads for the month of August to almost 16 million. Launched on November 30, 2022, the ChatGPT platform has attracted global attention and interest.
