When asked what edge computing types they were planning to connect in the next three years, more than 65 percent of respondents mentioned industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) or operational technology (OT) environment. Cloud computing as-a-service options such as infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS), platform-as-a-service (PaaS), and software-as-a-service (SaaS) ranked second, with over 60 percent of respondents planning to connect these types of edge computing in the next three years.
