The video gaming industry has seen a host of mergers and acquisitions in recent years, the most notable one being Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard in January 2022. As of May 2023, the deal is still up for approval by global industry regulators, and gaming audiences in the United States share concerns. A survey found that avid gamers, in particular, felt somewhat or very concerned about such mega mergers monopolizing the entire video games industry.
