Caterpillar's Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions from use of sold products were estimated at 613 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (MtCO₂e) in 2022. Scope 3 emissions are estimated to be more than 95 percent of Caterpillar's GHG emissions from Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope categories. The largest contributor to Caterpillar's Scope 3 emissions is the energy and transportation business segment.
