The Brazilian oil and gas company Petrobras' operational greenhouse gas emissions totaled 46 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (MtCO₂e) in 2023. The exploration and production (E&P) business segment was the biggest contributor to the company's emissions that year, with approximately 20 MtCO₂e. The refining segment ranked a close second having released 19 MtCO₂e. Combined, these two business segments accounted around 85 percent of Petrobras operational emissions in 2023. Petrobras is among the world's biggest historical emitters, having produced more than 10 GtCO₂e as of 2022.
