In 2022, consumer spending on the Apple App Store accounted for half of the total spending on apps among consumers worldwide. In comparison, 27 percent of the global app spending was generated on apps hosted and distributed in the Google Play Store. Additionally, third-party Android app stores in China accounted for around 23 percent of the global mobile app spend for the year.
