Paying visitor number to Changdeokgung Palace Complex South Korea 2012-2023
In 2023, there have been approximately 915 thousand paying visitors to South Korea's Changdeokgung Palace Complex. This indicated that visitor numbers were recovering after having plummeted following the COVID-19 pandemic.
Changdeokgung Palace is one of the main tourist attractions of South Korea's capital Seoul, being one of the "Five Grand Palaces". Finished in 1412, the then governing Joseon Dynasty of Korea used it as their royal residence and seat of government when neighboring Gyeongbokgung Palace was destroyed. Since 1997, it has been designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
