Visitor number to Changdeokgung Palace Complex in South Korea 2012-2023

There have been approximately 1.64 million visitors to Changdeokgung Palace Complex in South Korea in 2023. This includes both paid and free entries. This marks a gradual rebound in visitor numbers after a sharp drop due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Except for 2020 and 2021, the complex had been visited by more than a million people throughout the considered period.
Changdeokgung Palace is one of the main tourist attractions of South Korea's capital Seoul, being one of the "Five Grand Palaces". Finished in 1412, the then governing Joseon Dynasty of Korea used it as their royal residence and seat of government when neighboring Gyeongbokgung Palace was destroyed. In 1997, it has been designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
