The Gyeongbokgung Palace, originally built in 1395, was the main royal palace of the Joseon Dynasty, which ruled the Korean Peninsula from 1392 to 1897. It had been partly destroyed twice in history by Japanese forces, and now serves as one of the main attractions in the South Korean capital Seoul. Its premises also include the National Palace Museum and the National Folk Museum.
