Video streaming platforms have become increasingly popular in European countries, with SVOD services having long been king among the segments. As of the last quarter of 2023, this was still the case, for example in Germany and in Spain, with penetration rates between 70 and 73 percent, compared to 60 and 69 percent AVOD penetration rates. In contrast, in Italy, AVOD platforms enjoy higher popularity than subscription-based services.
