Over 24,700 charging points in Spain had unrestricted access in the fourth quarter of 2023, making it the most common accessibility type in the country. Unrestricted access allows drivers to recharge their electric vehicles every day of the week at any hour of the day. In contrast, some 5,700 chargers had restricted access. In a February 2023 survey, 40 percent of Spanish respondents highlighted the lack of space or nearby infrastructure to charge an EV battery as one of the main disincentives to electric vehicle purchase.
