There were over 116,500 battery-electric and nearly 97,000 plug-in hybrid electric vehicles in the Portuguese road vehicle fleet in 2023. The larger share of these volumes were light passenger vehicles, which include cars and pickups, followed by light goods vehicles. Fully electric cars were the most popular type of hybrid or electric car in Portugal in 2023, representing around 36,400 sales.
