As of 2023, the primary source of environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) guidance listed by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) surveyed was government bodies. Roughly 60 percent of SMEs mentioned government agencies as a source of guidance. Non-profit organizations were noted by the lowest number of SMEs with 33 percent of respondents including them as a source of ESG guidance.
Leading sources of environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) guidance for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in selected countries of Asia Pacific in 2023
A quantitative study was conducted covering 937 decision-makers from primarily small (22%) and medium-sized (67%) companies who are involved in ESG decisions. The study covered China, Hong Kong, India, Taiwan, Indonesia, and Singapore, connecting with approximately 150 people in each region.
