In a survey conducted in autumn 2022, it was revealed that a vast majority of online shoppers across different territories believe that online retailers should handle the cost of online returns. In Italy, some 69 percent of surveyed respondents expected online shopping return costs to be handled by the retailer. In contrast, that figure stood at only 48 percent for German respondents.
