Between 2019 and 2021, over 21 percent of female respondents in rural India had low body mass index (BMI). In comparison, men had a higher BMI in the country. Body mass index indicates the health status of a person by measuring the height and the weight of people. BMI is universally expressed in units of kilograms per meter square.
