Usage of child welfare in the Netherlands 2022
In 2022, there were around 466,600 people up to the age of 23 who made use of youth services, or 'jeugdzorg', in the Netherlands. Most of these used youth help, or 'jeugdhulp', which aims to help those with psychological, psychosocial or behavioral problems, intellectuals disabilities or parenting problems. Around 38,700 used youth protection, or 'jeugdbescherming', a court imposed measure that puts a young person under supervision or guardianship when their healthy and safe development is at risk. Just over 7,400 needed youth probation, or 'jeugdreclassering', a combination of supervision and control over people above the age of 12 who have been in contact with the police before the age of 18.
