Final energy consumption in Romania 2017-2021, by sector
Final energy consumption covers the energy consumption of end-users, such as industry, transport, households, services and agriculture. It excludes the consumption of the energy sector itself and losses occurring during the transformation and distribution of energy (e.g. power plants, district heating plants, oil refineries, coke ovens, blast furnaces). In Romania, the final energy consumption reached over 23.9 million metric tons of oil equivalent. The household sector consumed the most final energy in Romania in 2021, accounting for 34.7 percent or 8.76 million metric tons of oil equivalent.
