Germany has released methane emissions equivalent to more than 16 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (GtCO₂e) since 1850. Although Germany has a made a significant contribution to global historical methane emissions over the past two centuries, the country's annual methane emissions have fallen considerably since 1990.

Exclusive Premium Statistic
To access all Premium Statistics, you need a paid Statista Account
Figures were calculated by Statista according to the values provided by the source.
Includes methane emissions from fossil fuels, industry and agricultural sources.
Methane emissions are measured in metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO₂e), so are weighted for its 100-year global warming potential value.
