The income distribution of for heterosexual and homosexual households differed by only one percentage point for all income quintiles between 2015 and 2018. In contrast, more than half of bisexual people had incomes falling within the two lowest quintiles, compared with approximatively 38 percent among heterosexual and homosexual people.
In Canada, bisexual people are also the ones with the lowest median employment income.

The source adds the following information: "Sexual orientation in research has been assessed on the basis of sexual behaviour, sexual attraction, or self-identity—each of these three concepts yielding slightly different prevalence estimates. In this table, estimates of sexual orientation are based on the survey question which targeted the concept of identity and provided behaviour-based definitions."
"The household income quintile is based on income received by all household members, from all sources, before taxes and deductions, during the twelve months ending December 31 of the year preceding the interview (e.g. December 31, 2014 for 2015 estimates). All households are ranked from lowest to highest according to the value of their before-tax income. The ranked population is then divided into five groups of equal numbers of units, called quintiles. This income is adjusted by a low income cutoff which represents the threshold at which a family would typically spend a larger portion of its income than the average family on the necessities of food, shelter and clothing. This adjusted income is divided into five quintiles at the national level (excluding the territories). Quintiles can also be formed at the provincial or health region level comparing these geographies. For more information on household income quintiles, see CCHS derived variables documentation. Beginning in 2016, household income data are taken from tax records, if possible."
