Note: Traditional supplemental benefits main goal is to prevent, treat or lessen an illness or injury.
Expanded primarily health-related benefits mainly focus on lessening the functional or psychological effects of illnesses or injuries and cutting unnecessary emergency room visits and medical care.
SSBCIs need not be primarily health-related, but they must have a reasonable expectation of enhancing or maintaining the general health or functional status of chronically ill beneficiaries.
