While not being heterosexual tends to have a negative impact on the median employment income of Canadian men, the same is not true for women. Over the 2015-2018 period, gay men earned an average of 10,000 Canadian dollars less than straight men, and bisexual men earned 22,000 dollars less. Conversely, lesbian women earned more than straight women, but also more than bisexual men. Regardless of gender, bisexuals earned less than all other groups.

(in Canadian dollars)
The source adds the following information: "Sample includes people aged 25 to 64 who were employed full-time at a job or business in the week preceding the survey, with earnings from wages or self-employment over $1,000 in the previous year. Employment income data from the previous year was used in the analysis. Income amounts were averaged over the 2015-to-2018 period and adjusted to 2015 dollars and rounded to the nearest 100."
"Sexual orientation in research has been assessed on the basis of sexual behaviour, sexual attraction, or self-identity—each of these three concepts yielding slightly different prevalence estimates. In this table, estimates of sexual orientation are based on the survey question which targeted the concept of identity and provided behaviour-based definitions."
