Nonrechargeable hybrids with a petrol internal combustion engine were the most popular electric vehicle type in Portugal in 2022, followed by battery-electric vehicles (BEVs). That same year, plug-in electric vehicle sales—including BEVs and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles—were the highest on record since 2019.
