Snapchat: global subscription users 2023

In June 2022, social media app Snapchat introduced Snapchat+, a subscription service that offers pre-release and experimental features at a cost of 3.99 U.S. dollars per month. As of December 2023, the company reported seven million Snapchat+ users, up from a reported three million users in April 2023.

Snapchat’s audience

Most Snapchat users are taking advantage of the original free version of the app. In 2022, the number of global Snapchat users stood at 548 million. By 2027, it is estimated that there will be over 670 million global users of the social app. India is home to 182 million Snapchat users, whilst the United States is the platform’s second largest market, with 108 million users as of April 2023.

Social app downloads

Although Snapchat is experiencing steady growth in terms of user numbers, other social media heavyweights still take center stage with regards to number of app downloads. In 2022, Snapchat was the fifth most downloaded mobile app worldwide, with 330 million downloads. TikTok, owned by Beijing-based tech company ByteDance, was the most downloaded app of 2022. Instagram, WhatsApp, and CapCut, ranked second, third, and fourth, respectively.
