Between 2018 and 2022, the Clean Vehicle Assistance Program attributed 4,705 clean vehicle grants to consumers in California, which amounted to approximately 23.01 million U.S. dollars distributed in the U.S. state. 73.3 percent of these grants were allocated to battery-electric car buyers, followed by 22.7 percent of grants attributed for the purchase of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. Non-rechargeable hybrids and hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles accounted for the smaller share of the Californian total.
