The total capacity of carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects in development worldwide was 416 million metric tons per annum of carbon dioxide (Mtpa CO₂) as of July 2024. Those in advanced development had a capture capacity of 180 Mtpa CO₂. As of July 2024, there were more than 600 projects in the global CSS facilities pipeline.
