The total capacity of carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects in development worldwide was roughly 360 million metric tons per annum (Mtpa) of carbon dioxide (CO₂) as of July 2023. Those in advanced development had a CO₂ capture capacity of 144 Mtpa. As of March 2024, there were some 395 projects in the global CSS facilities pipeline.
