The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL), also known as Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, was signed in 2021 by President Biden and it allocated approximately one trillion U.S. dollars to be invested in public projects between 2022 and 2026.
In 2022, it provided 550 billion U.S. dollars of funding, of which roughly 10 percent was for clean energy-related investments. Upgrading the resilience of the electric grid, implementing carbon capture and storage, and investing in hydroelectric facilities were among the main goals of the clean energy program funded by the BIL in 2022.
