Parents' advice to children regarding online ads in Brazil 2023, by child's gender

During a 2023 survey in Brazil, 80 percent of responding parents and guardians of male children aged nine to 17 reported telling them not to see some types of online ads. Among female children, that share stood at 76 percent. Furthermore, among adults responsible for female kids and adolescents, 59 percent said they stood nearby while they saw online advertisements, and 32 percent stated using filters or settings to restrict their contact with those ads. Among parents of male children, those shares stood at 48 and 25 percent, respectively. According to the same study, nearly 50 percent of online children in Brazil accessed ads inappropriate for their age.
