Top retailers offering free delivery on online orders in the UK 2024
In the United Kingdom (UK), around 17 percent of the leading 500 retailers operating in the country offered free delivery on all orders, according to a 2024 report. However, more than half of the leading retailers gave customers free delivery if they spent a minimum amount.
How retailers drive sales and loyalty
Delivery offers, although important, are just one of the few ways of keeping a customer’s loyalty and engagement. In Australia, for example, consumers highly value a variety of rewards and benefits, indicating the importance of these incentives in building and maintaining customer loyalty. Among Australian consumers, regular discounts based on spending were highly effective in encouraging repeat purchases in 2024. The majority also valued the ability to make full payments using loyalty points. Worldwide, these incentives help retailers foster long-term loyalty by making customers feel valued and rewarded, strengthening the bond between brands and their customers.
The first purchase starts the engagement
The initial contact between brands and customers is where most companies have the chance of keeping their consumers loyal, according to a global 2023 survey. Worldwide, around 78 percent of shoppers believe that they become loyal to a brand after the first purchase. These shares were highest in South Korea (92 percent), Japan (90 percent), and China (82 percent). Being competitive and demonstrating diverse approaches to attracting new clients in such a fast-paced commerce environment is imperative, as consumers' loyalty towards specific brands tends to increase with the incentivized loyalty strategies.
