In 2022, the pharmaceutical chemicals segment had the highest import value within the United States (U.S.) chemical industry with 175.6 billion U.S. dollars, while basic chemicals followed behind with an import value of 88.4 billion U.S. dollars. After basic chemicals, the specialty chemicals segment had an import value of 33.6 billion U.S. dollars, with the agricultural chemicals and consumer products segments following thereafter.
