A survey conducted by Rakuten Insight in March 2023 found that 73 percent of respondents in China reported that rising inflation affected their ability to pay for basic necessities such as food, clothing, and healthcare. Meanwhile, 36 percent of male respondents mentioned that they have difficulties to pay for the rent or mortgage due to inflation, whereas more women expressed their concerns about inability to save.
