Renewable water resources represent the long-term average annual flow of rivers (surface water) and recharge of aquifers (groundwater) generated from precipitation.
Renewable water resources are not all accessible for use. Exploitable water resources are significantly smaller as it considers factors such as the economic and environmental feasibility of storing floodwater, extracting groundwater, etc.
MENA region countries included: Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syrian Arab Republic, Tunisia
United Arab Emirates, and Yemen.
