In 2023, Los Angeles, Santa Clara, and San Diego were the counties with the largest shared private electric vehicle charger network. Los Angeles recorded some 21,000 shared private chargers that year, most of which were Level 2 chargers using alternating current electricity to charge a vehicle at 208 to 240 volts, providing around 14 to 35 miles of range for each hour of charging. Overall, level 2 chargers were the most popular type for shared private charging in the U.S. state.
