In Portugal, the share of video-on-demand users among internet users has risen since 2016, one year after streaming platforms were introduced in the country. In 2020, the share of internet users that subscribed to video-on-demand services was 34 percent, having risen 20 percent since 2018. Such an increase may be partially due to the changes in behavior motivated by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
