In 2022, about 1.7 million TEUs of loaded containers were processed at ports in the Black Sea region. While in 2021, Ukraine handled 34.2 percent of all loaded containers in the Black Sea region, this volume dropped to just seven percent in 2022. This decrease was caused by the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 and the subsequent war on Ukrainian territory.
