The Chinese company Sinopec has owned 49 percent of the oilfield Udmurtneft controlled by Rosneft since 2017. Furthermore, Sinopec, as well as the Silk Road Fund (SRF), owns 8.5 percent of shares of the Russian petrochemical company Sibur. The shares of Sinopec and SRF's stakes was originally 10 percent each when the deal took place in 2015, but it decreased to 8.5 percent each after Sibur merged with its competitor Taif in 2021. Chinese energy companies also owned stakes in liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects Yamal LNG and Arctic LNG 2 controlled by Novatek.
