The Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine registered a total of 4.9 million internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the country as of December 31, 2023. Of them, around 3.6 million were displaced after February 24, 2022, when Russia invaded Ukraine. The number of IDPs in the country decreased slightly between September and December 2023. To compare, in 2021, the IDP count in Ukraine was recorded at 854,000.
