In September 2022, the retail price of oils and fats in Italy increased by 21.5 percent compared to the same period in the preceding year, marking it as the food category with the most considerable price increase. Eggs came in second with an increase of 16.6 percent. Conversely, fruit witnessed the smallest variation in prices, with a difference of 7.7 percent between September 2021 and September 2022.
