Greenhouse gas emissions from Mexico's photovoltaic industry have seen an upward trend over the last decade, reaching 27,700 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent in 2021. This represented an increase of nearly 70 percent in comparison to 2011 levels. Before that point in time, greenhouse gas emissions from the Mexican photovoltaic industry were negligible.
