Over the last decade, greenhouse gas emissions from cement production in Mexico have been on a mostly upward trend. In 2021, cement production generated more than 19.5 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (MtCO₂e). This represented a 16 percent increase in comparison to 2010 levels, when emissions stood at 16.9 MtCO₂e.
