In 2021, 60 percent of people surveyed in Morocco felt that social media had positively affected the society. However, close to 29 percent of people believed it to be somewhat or very negative. Moreover, negative views towards social media in the country might be connected to the belief that it helps to spread fake news. On the other hand, keeping people informed might be related to its positive effects.

Respondents were asked: "Overall, do you think the effects of social media on society are mostly positive, mostly negative, or haven’t you heard enough to say?" (Respondents who had not heard about social media were excluded.)
