Of the migrant workers worldwide, around two thirds were based in high-income countries in 2019. This was slightly less than in 2013, when approximately three out of four were the same. On the other hand, the share based in upper-middle income countries increased from 12 percent in 2013 to nearly 20 percent in 2019. Nearly 50 percent of the migrant workers were based in either Northern, Western, or Southern Europe as well as North America.
