According to a survey conducted in January 2023 in Japan, more than one third of respondents stated that they consumed beverages fermented with lactic acid bacteria at least once per week. The age group that gave the most indications for a weekly consumption were respondents above the age of 60 at around 45 percent, followed by respondents under the age of 20 with approximately 42 percent.

15 to 19 years: n=526
20 to 29 years: n=1,052
30 to 39 years: n=1,050
40 to 49 years: n=1,050
50 to 59 years: n=1,050
60 to 69 years: n=526.
