As of 2021, the majority of employed population in Morocco's rural areas was occupied in agriculture, forestry, and fisheries, with roughly two thirds of the rural working population being employed in this branch. In contrast, only 4.6 percent of the urban workers operated in this field. Trade was the most popular sector in urban areas, accounting for 21.3 percent of the workers, followed by non-specified activities at 18.9 percent.
