In 2021, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from industrial processes and product use in Mexico surpassed 140 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (MtCO₂e), out of which 21 percent were emitted by the mineral industry. The mineral industry includes sectors like the production of cement, lime, and glass. Meanwhile, emissions of the chemical industry stood at 5.1 MtCO₂e that year.
