In 2022, a survey conducted in Italy on government measures that are most likely to limit the costs of car ownership showed that 61 percent of consumers believed a price ceiling on fuel was most impactful. Reducing taxes on cars and setting up or developing subsidies for the purchase of electric vehicles were also popular, at 39 percent and 31 percent, respectively.
