Humza Yousaf will become the next leader of the Scottish National Party, and also the next First Minister of Scotland after winning the SNP leadership election in March 2023. After only receiving 11.1 percent of first preference votes Ash Regan was eliminated from the contest. In the final round, the second-preference votes of Regan voters were distributed to Yousaf and Kate Forbes, with Yousaf winning an overall majority of 52.1 percent in this round.
